An Etruscan land, full of history and mystery, a clear and mild lake with clear days, stormy and adverse when the north-east wind blows: we are in Bolsena. The largest lake of volcanic origin in Europe which rises on a coast that is anything but monotonous, an interrupted sequence of small and low peninsulas. Few promontories among which the Volsini Mountains stand out, characterized by steep ridges and deep valleys.

An evocative panoramic road that leads into the heart of the mountain range to Gradoli, a medieval village perched on a tuff spur. In this splendid lake panorama, the dark, rich and soft volcanic earth gives nourishment to vineyards and olive trees and La Carcaia rises there, a small company founded by a strong and enterprising woman and now managed by her grandchildren.

Pier Francesco, the agronomist, creates the right balance between the experience of the past and today's knowledge: enhancing the centuries-old vines and native productions by favoring quality and safeguarding the uniqueness of each individual row. These are the teachings and philosophy followed at La Carcaia, combined with competence, professionalism and a preference for low environmental impact practices. It all started by starting a clonal selection of the best vines by choosing crops such as Aleatico, Grechetto Rosso and Procanico: ancient and rare vines with the desire to offer bottles that are the fruit of love, patience, meticulous work and attachment to the land.
