On the border between the medieval Tuscania and the Etruscan Tarquinia, immersed in the typical countryside of the Tuscia Maremmana, the agriturismo is a small oasis situated on a plateau, flanked by the wide valley of the River Marta. South-facing, it commands breath-taking views, from the profile of the towers of Tarquinia to the sea.
The agriturismo is the result of the conversion of an old country farmhouse. The owners, farmers for several generations, aim to raise awareness of the rural world and the changing seasons.
Each room, carefully furnished with pieces of furniture by craftsmen and antique art, is cosy and has all facilities, an independent entrance and Wi-Fi internet (which is also available in the communal areas).
The agriturismo offers a range of services ranging from a restaurant, in a large hall with an open fire and wonderful views, and a stable, to a swimming pool and nature, river and mountain bike trails. The restaurant serves traditional food with an attentive choice of highest quality, locally sourced ingredients. The swimming pool is equipped with loungers and a hammock, where guests can relax and enjoy the silence of the landscape.
Guests can enjoy ad hoc or organised excursions, to be agreed according to the season, along the gorge, near the River Marta or along footpaths through the fields to discover the landscape.
The centre is situated near what for centuries was the road linking Tarquinia and Tuscania, still today unspoilt by invasive building, where visitors can glimpse the ruins of medieval abbeys and Etruscan necropolises.
The beaches of Tarquinia and Montalto di Castro are a few minutes’ drive away. To the north is Lake Bolsena, whose towns host festivals, art shows and other events. Viterbo is home to the terme dei Papi, known for their hot spring waters (40°-58°C), rich in sulphur salts and calcium bicarbonate.
The whole of the Tuscia Viterbese area is within easy reach, and is home to nature reserves, archaeological sites and nature parks, such as the frescoed tombs of Tarquinia, the Renaissance villa of Bagnaia, the Sacro Bosco of Bomarzo, and early medieval hermitages in the gorges of the River Fiora. The sporting and riding events in the land of the Maremma horse and cattle are highly recommended.
